Sitting on 8000 acres in
Asheville, NC, the Biltmore Estate® was
completed by George Vanderbilt in 1895 and remains the largest private home in
the United States, with 250 rooms and four acres of floor space.
Each Biltmore Estate For
Your Home® Carriage House Door was inspired by actual doors and other
architectural elements of the Biltmore. Each door combines the strength of steel
with the aesthetics of wood. Exterior surfaces utilize Western Red Cedar, MDO
or T1-11 plywood as a base and Western Red Cedar, known for its resistance to
warping, cracking, and twisting, as the overlay. For durability and strength,
the wood is mounted to a 2-inch commercial steel door. Factory-installed
polystyrene insulation provides an extra thermal barrier and the interior is
finished with Luan paneling to give the door a complete wood look. Doors are
shipped with their natural wood finish allowing for customization of paint and
stain.
Arch Designs: Doors 14' and wider are standard
with a double arch unless a single arch is specified when ordering.
Windows: The Chateau, Swannanoa, and
Vanderbilt are available with seeded or straw glass.
